摘要
Species diversity was calculated using three different indices on sets of real and artificial data. Each index was analyzed to determine its relationship to the two component parts of diversity, richness and evenness. Shannon's information formula, H' = C~pi log2 pi, is found to be linearly related to evenness and to the log2 of the number of species.
